Local Volunteers - We are actively recruiting volunteers from the Waco and Waco Metropolitan area to serve as volunteers for providing support to students on an on-call basis. Services may include but are not limited to delivery of items requested by parents to be delivered to students from local merchants, delivery of parcels received by the foundation on the behalf of the student, delivery of supplemental food provided by the foundation, sick care/wound care supplies, durable medical equipment delivery (crutches, knee scooters) etc.
Student Volunteers - Responsible for distributing food and sick care supplies from various locations on campus to the dorm desk of the student in need.
In addition, volunteers may be called upon to serve during special events that support The OCM Foundation's mission of "No Bear Left behind".
Students will receive documented community service hours for their volunteerism.
Each year we review and compile a roster of Baylor parents/alumni who are willing to provide emergency shelter for students who find themselves stranded at the airport due to inclement weather, flight delays and/or cancellations.
If you reside near a major airport in the United States as well as abroad and you are willing to provide overnight lodging for a stranded Baylor student, we would love to have you on our roster.
If you have a preference to a male or female student, we do respect that preference. Please indicate whether there are any pets in the home in the event the student requiring shelter has an allergy. The OCM Foundation serves as a bridge between the family offering shelter and the family of the student in need of shelter.
Each year we review and compile a roster of Baylor parents/alumni who are willing to provide non-shelter emergency assistance for students who are stranded due to flight delays, cancellations or disabled automobiles.
Volunteers serving in this capacity would be responsible for transporting the stranded student to the nearest, safe lodging facility and providing check-in service as many lodging facilities have a minimum check-in age of 21.
Volunteers will be reimbursed for lodging fees and/or meal fees by the parent or the foundation, whichever is applicable.
Each year we review and compile a roster of Baylor parents/alumni who are willing to provide emergency assistance to help students navigate finding resolution in the event of a disabled automobile either mechanically or due to a deflated tire.
In many cases these events will just require an experienced volunteer to help the student navigate securing emergency roadside assistance.
Regardless of your location, we would love to have you as a contact volunteer due to the nationwide travel by the Bears.
The university offers extensive no cost tutoring resources however, in some cases students may need additional tutoring support through private tutoring sessions.
The OCM Foundation, Inc. fosters and supports a multitude of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds where the costs associated with private tutoring is not financially feasible.
If you are well versed in a subject with a desire to see others succeed through your gift of knowledge, we would love to have you as one of our tutoring volunteers.
Tutoring volunteers will receive community service hours for their volunteerism.
Compensation for services will be dependent up available funding.
Tutoring volunteers will be required to submit an unofficial transcript of subject(s) they are offering assistance with. This document is located in BearWeb under the Student Academic Tab.
Research Assistants will be assigned tasks related to internet searches for suppliers, manufacturers, sources and/or service industries that would be beneficial to the foundation. Applicants should be familiar with utilizing Microsoft Excel to produce spreadsheets to log such information. Research Assistant positions are open to students currently enrolled at Baylor University as well as parents and alumni and are performed remotely.

The Social Media Assistant will serve as a bridge to relay information about the foundation, its activities and ongoing community projects to the public via multiple social media platforms.

Volunteers will be tasked with locating grant opportunities at the local, state and federal level that will benefit the goals and initiatives of the foundation.
Grant Proposal Writers should be well versed in the art of the draft, creation and grant proposal submission techniques.
Members of the Nonprofit Advisory Committee should possess a demonstrated track record in past or present not-for-profit operations.
It is our hope that Community Liaisons will be willing to share information about the foundation, our projects and initiatives that we support in their hometown communities both near and far.
Occasionally the foundation may have a situation to arise either at the foundational level, concerning the needs of a student or in many cases parents reaching out for a contact name where they can get sound legal advice or services. We would love to have you on our roster! Please kindly provide your contact information as well as which branch of legal specialty you practice through our volunteer form. This roster is inclusive for nationwide volunteers.
Volunteers that serve the needs of the foundation or the needs of the students we support will be compensated in the form of a letter of donation in kind for services provided.
The OCM Foundation is always on the move seeking out internship opportunities for students. Are you employed with a company that has internship opportunities? We would love to have your ears & eyes to alert us for internship opportunities in your profession or locality. This is a nationwide request for opportunities.
Do have an interest in brightening a student’s day? Students love to receive mail. Join our writing team and help us provide uplifting inspirational messages to students on campus by penning cards that are mailed to campus mailboxes. Volunteers are delivered cards at no cost along with a prepaid envelope for the return of cards to the foundation for distribution.
